MARIAMA AKANNI, LD, RD.

Mariama Akanni, a registered and licenced dietitian, is the CEO and founder of MDC. She had her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Ghana and is currently working full time as a clinical dietitian at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and parttime at Ruthy Health and Wellness Centre.

She also volunteers as a dietitian with Operation Smile and at Safe Haven Cancer Support Centre. Using medical nutrition therapy, she has helped individuals with hypertension, diabetes, High blood cholesterol, body weight issues, kidney or renal problems, stroke, eating disorders and other nutrition related problems.

Mariama  also has expertise in sports nutrition and has given health talk on diverse platforms. Mariama is passionate about her work as a dietitian and hopes to use MDC with the help of her team, reach out to and help more individuals with nutritional problems and provide information that will foster healthy eating and living in the general population both locally and internationally.

She believes in using nutrition to prevent or cure disease and therefore agrees with the popular saying that ‘Let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food’.
